Predictions for Summer Share #13

Lucky 13, the final summer share for 2026. Here’s what I’m hoping we’ll have: lettuce, beets, carrots, a few last tomatoes, sweet peppers, collards for Monday and chard for Thursday. We may have a few remaining summer squash and cucumbers on the farm stand but those plants will be coming out soon and they’re pretty done. The same goes for the romano beans. Basil and sauce tomatoes seem to be doing ok so if the cold and rain this weekend doesn’t get them we’ll have more of those too.

Thursday was a beautiful day on the farm and we were able to get the last of the escarole planted. That’s probably the final planting for fall and winter CSA. We will do a little planting of overwintering favas and shallots for next year later this month. Last week’s great rains germinated a fresh crop of fall weeds and we were able to hoe a lot of those out yesterday. That’s something we have to stay on top of this time of year with every rain for the next month or so.

I’m also back in office mode trying to get the fall CSA member list finalized and all of the communications for that set up. If you’re confirmed for a fall CSA share you’ll get an email about that next week.
