Twelfth Summer Share

Lettuce, cucumbers, sweet peppers, chard, romano beans, tomatoes, onions and celery. Summer is slowly coming to an end and we only had enough summer squash for the farm stand this week. Chard was in the Monday share (which we didn’t harvest until Tuesday due to the holiday), but Thursday will either see kale or collards while the chard gets a moment to grow back. There are both yellow and red onions in the share, and more sweet pepper varieties are ripening now so there’s a mix in the share.

That rain last weekend was a nice break from irrigation. It did germinate lots of fall weeds though so we’ll be trying to get a bunch of hoeing done in the next few weeks. We also have a bit more to plant out for the fall and for overwintering so Thursday will be a busy day.

Next week will be the final summer shares and the week after that our first fall shares will start. I actually took a holiday this past long weekend so now it’s back to catching up on the backlog of fall CSA sign-ups and getting the emails and lists ready for the change in seasons.
