Ha! Looks like I mislabeled this past week’s share number as share #10 when it was actually week 11! Next week will be week 12 of 13 so we’re just two weeks from the end of summer, and the weather seems to have decided that we’re already into fall. This whole year has felt shifted a few weeks forward in terms of the weather but I’m still holding out hope for some more warm, dry days in the next month before we really get into the wet. With the cool temperatures and reduced sunlight our summer staples of cucumbers, summer squash and tomatoes are all slowing way down. They’ll probably be in the shares a bit longer, but some of them might transition to the farm stand soon and looking at our harvest plan this is actually the time of year where we expect the cucumbers and summer squash to drop out of the shares so they’re actually right on schedule. Lettuce is slowing down but we should have that at least through the beginning of October and it’ll be in next week’s share. We’ll have more onions and sweet peppers. Bunch greens are starting to come back so it will either be collards or chard next week. Celery is another strong possibility.
One important note for Monday members is that Monday is the Labor Day holiday so we’re shifting CSA harvest and distribution to Tuesday next week. We’ll be back to Mondays after that.
Another note is that I sent out an email to our full list last weekend saying that we still had lots of fall shares available. The response was amazing and we now have a waiting list that I’m still trying to sort out. If you haven’t gotten an email from us confirming your share please be patient and I hope to confirm your spots by the end of next week. I don’t love having to put people on the waiting list but it really is wonderful to see so much support and so many kind comments in the sign ups. Thank you all for supporting what we do!
