A slightly larger share than I planned for due to good yields of turnips and mustard greens, and some of the better choi we’ve had for a few years now: Choi, green onions, red mustard, salad turnips with greens, radishes with greens, kale and red speckled oak leaf lettuce. The B week will probably get collards instead of kale, and there’s no more red mustard but otherwise it’ll probably be similar.
I was optimistic that we’d have minimal rain today, and for the morning that was mostly true. Fortunately we were able to get a bunch of plants in the ground before the rain started in earnest in the early afternoon. Celery, celeriac and more lettuce are all in the ground now, and at the very end of the day after CSA pick-up the sun came back out and I was able to plant the hot peppers in the you-pick area. Not only did we get some plants in the ground but we were also able to do a bit of hoeing and Sebastian spread more wood chips around the wash/pack area to help keep the weeds down and the mud at bay.
In the end the rain is a good thing and we were able to cut short our irrigation for the second half of the week. It’ll certainly help more weeds germinate so we’ll have to deal with those next week.
