Predictions for Third Spring Share

The second B weeks share was similar to A with a couple of modifications: collards instead of kale and extra bok choi instead of red mustard. We also had a bit of chard and spinach on the farm stand, as well as rhubarb and extra turnips, radishes, and lettuce. Here’s what I think will be in the third spring shares: lettuce, radishes, collards or chard, salad turnips, and fennel. Beets are also a possibility if they’ve sized up enough, and we’ll have a little spinach on the farm stand for the A week.

More plants went in the ground yesterday: pole beans and cucumbers. We’re almost finished with all of the big spring plantings at this point and there’ll be a slight lull in the planting schedule before we get into planting all of the fall and winter crops. We also got a little hoeing done and at this point there’s a lot more of that for us to do next week.

In CSA sign up news, there are just 5 summer shares left and if you can sign up for Mondays that’s the day where we still have space. Summer starts just about a month from now. We still have plenty of fall and winter shares available.
