Tomorrow’s Harvest and Other Updates

A quick reminder that last week’s scheduled harvest and CSA distribution has been moved to tomorrow. We’ll get a better sense of how things have recovered (or not) from the freeze when we start pulling them out of the fields but I’m pretty confident we’ll have some good leeks and roots and I’m hopeful that some greens made it through.

Meanwhile, I’m inventorying the seeds and getting ready to make a seed order. I’m definitely behind where I’d like to be with this but it’s a funny guessing game this time of year – start too early and super cold weather could set everything back, or start later, but maybe miss some of the early warm weather windows? I’m at least glad I didn’t seed anything before all that ice! The real start to seeding and planting starts once we get to mid-February and the days start to get long enough for plants to really start growing – assuming the sun comes out from behind the clouds and the day time temps get high enough.

Next week I’m hoping to get all of the sign up information out for the 2024 CSA shares. That would be a week or two earlier than usual, but it might happen so keep an eye on this space and email in boxes.
