2nd Winter Share 2024

A week later than planned and a very different mix of veggies, but it’s nice to see that a few things survived in the field! Radicchio, parsnip, beets, leeks and mache.

There’s a mix of different radicchios in the shares, including one forcing type. The very tender forced radicchios don’t keep as well as the larger field grown heads so eat those first. There was some damage from the cold on the beets so they may not keep as well as they usually do, but the cold also really sweetened them up. The mache was the one leafy green in the field that didn’t get completely singed by the cold. There’s a little damage, but these little florets make delicious salad. Be sure to clean them well as they Iike to hold onto soil like spinach does.

We’ll be back to the regular schedule next week. A few crops didn’t make it through the cold, but there are more roots and I’m optimistic that more greens will bounce back now that the weather is a little milder.
