In today’s share: treviso radicchio, kale, Hakurei turnips, celeriac, sweet pepper, parsnips, red mustard. On the farm stand we had radicchio, kale, collards, lettuce, fennel, celery, saladette tomatoes, popcorn ears, grind-your-own polenta corn, and daikon radishes. Thursday’s share should be similar. I’m not sure we’ll get enough treviso for everyone but we’ll have other radicchio if not.
Such lucky weather today! It was windy (has this fall been windy than usual or have I just forgotten how much wind we get?), but it was also sunny all day! Dry weather makes harvests a little simpler, less mud to deal with, and warmer fingers. With the time change it was dark for most of pick-up. I always forget how dark it gets this time of year. Thursday we’ll do it all again and then we’re giving the fields a couple of weeks to try to eek out a bit more growth before the final week 9 harvests on November 29 and December 2.
