Fall CSA share – Week 5 of 9

In today’s share: leeks, lettuce, baby hakurei turnips, carrots, spinach, parsley, sweet peppers, winter radishes, and a bunch green. The radishes and turnips are small this week, thinnings from plantings that were a bit to thick. With a little luck the remaining roots will size up in the next few weeks for a second harvest. The greens on both are looking good, as are most of the rest of the greens in the field right now. Unlike the other roots the carrots are big, and they’re starting to get sweeter with the cooler weather.

On the farm stand we continue to have a bit of radicchio, and also some late tomatoes and some extra ears of popcorn.

Harvest and packing is taking most of the day this time of year, but we’re still getting a little time to clean up the summer crops from the fields.
