Oh my, next week is summer already! If you’re signed up for a summer CSA share you should have received an email with all the details on picking up your first share (via mail chimp) by now – and if not you should let us know so we can get that to you.
Here’s what I think might be in next week’s share: Lettuce, chard, carrots, turnips, peas, green onions and maybe a small head of cabbage. There were a few more items in my early plan, but this time of year it’s not uncommon for things to get moved around by a week or two so that’s what’s happening, and it sounds like a pretty good one to me. We may have a bit of spinach on the farm stand if it makes it through the heat, kale and collards, too.
It was a super hectic and productive day yesterday – knocking back all the weeds stimulated by the rains, and trying to get all of the tomatoes and cucumbers trellised before they get too big, plus a bunch of other little tasks like spreading compost, tarps and insect netting. We were pretty successful though and that makes me optimistic for lots of good harvests to come.
