You have probably heard by now about arsenic and cadmium hot spots in a few areas of Portland. According to the maps in this article, there was one arsenic hot spot near to the farm, based on sampling of moss by the US Forest Service.
So I naturally was relieved when the farm soil tests recently came back with undetectable cadmium levels and arsenic levels below the general background level for Portland soils. I have also tested multiple times for lead, which also came back at very low levels. If anyone wants the details I’m happy to pass along the test results.
l’m happy to report that our soil is clear and free of these heavy metal worries!
