Spring Break

The weather definitely anticipated the official start of spring this past weekend! On Monday and Tuesday I was able to get out and start prepping all of the beds on the farm – something that basically never happens as we almost always have a sizable portion of the farm planted to crops that are waiting for harvest. With the extra cold snap earlier this winter, and because we’re taking the spring harvest season off, there are only a few overwintering crops currently in the ground (French Grey Shallots, culinary herbs, rhubarb, sorrel…)

Yesterday we had the full crew and got even further into preparing and planting beds, and moved all of the tarps to new locations to try to knock back the weeds. After quite a few years the tarps are full of holes and I’m going to have to decide if we invest in more plastic covers, or perhaps another weed suppression approach. Carrots, favas and potatoes are now all in the ground and beds are nearly ready for more plantings in the coming weeks.

CSA shares have been selling at a nice pace. We still have summer, fall and winter shares available and you can sign up using the link on our website (sounds like google has been sending some people to the old sign up page so make sure to pick the 2024/25 season on the menu).
