A great champion of small farms, CSA, and good, clean, fair food passed away from cancer this week. Many of you may already know this from social media platforms, and if you’ve subscribed to her newsletter she had hinted that her cancer was back so it may not be a complete surprise. I’m incredibly sad that she’s gone as she was a close personal friend for many years, not just the provider of an amazing recipe database for our CSA members. I’m still wrapping my head around what it all means. Her support of the community and the community she cultivated around her are a continuing inspiration – as are her “recipes”, which I put into quotes because of how flexible they always are. I suppose I’ll continue cooking with what I have from her, a bit of sadness, but also a lot of joy, inspiration and motivation to feed the community well.
