I’m very late on this post as harvest is tomorrow! Took advantage of yesterday’s weather to get some of the last plantings in, shallots and favas for next year as well as some cover crop in a few of the empty beds.
In the field it looks like we’ll be harvesting chard, the first of the chicories which could be frisee, escarole, or maybe some radicchio, carrots, either radishes or celeriac or maybe both, maybe a bit more arugula, and we’ll be giving out cipolla onions which are flat and a bit sweet, but are unlike sweet onions they’re also good keepers. There may be a few last sweet peppers hanging on. The hoop house tomatoes and eggplant are gone now, making way for some flowers for the spring, but the field tomatoes are still up and I’ll add them to the you pick list for anyone who wants to glean green tomatoes before the coming rain and cold really takes them out.
