Summer Share 13 of 13

Our final summer share of 2025, and the final Monday harvest: kale, fennel, cucumber, yellow onions, sweet pepper, summer squash, tomatoes, lettuce and beets with greens. The fennel needed to be harvested this week and the celery could use some more time to size up so that’s a little change from the predictions. Other than that the share is pretty much as predicted. The kale pictured here is Lacinato Rainbow and Thursday’s share will likely have our other kale variety, Winter Red, although collards are also a possibility. It looks like we’ll have some warm weather the next few days so that may help keep the cucumbers and summer squash going for one more harvest. Tomatoes and peppers are slowing down significantly but they should still continue for a few weeks.

The rain on Sunday morning gave us a nice break from irrigation duties. I don’t think we’re done with irrigation for the season, and it would always be nice to have a few more dry(ish) weeks but it’s also nice to not be setting timers and running around flipping valves all day just to get the plants watered. The flip side of that is that the rain is excellent at germinating weed seedlings so in the field yesterday we were hoeing the most recent plantings and hand weeding some of the others.

Fall CSA starts next week for A schedule members and the week after for B schedule. I’ll be sending out details by email by tomorrow so look for those. If you haven’t signed up yet we still have space in the B schedule so get your order in soon!
