Summer share 2 of 13

Green onions, basil, red potatoes, carrots, gold beets, lettuce. These are the last of the green onions and the first taste of basil. We had green beans on the farm stand as there weren’t enough to go in all of the shares but there might be on Thursday. We also had, and will have, kale on the farm stand, and maybe some extra lettuce and other greens. I picked just a few small summer squash so those will be coming soon too.

In the field today we continued to make clean up weeds, a never ending job for us. Sara also got the cucumber trellis up and we’ll start training those soon. Needless to say that with the heat keeping up on irrigation was also a top priority and we’ll be giving the plants a little extra water this week to keep them happy. The crew also drank more water than usual, and spent as much time doing shady jobs as possible. We also enjoyed a bit of kombucha from our friends at Golden Age Kombucha which is a great treat on a hot afternoon!
