Chard, fennel, beets, lettuce, snap peas, turnips, baby carrots and green onions. Final two weeks of spring and the share is a big one. We left the fennel tops on because they can be a nice addition to salads or even cooked greens. These are probably the last of the peas so I’m not sure the B week will get them (but they got them last week). Also the last of the spring salad turnips, although the B week will get them as well, just none for summer. The carrots are tiny because I seeded them too densely, but they’re still tasty! We left the beet greens on and they can be used just like chard. The B week share next week should look similar, with different lettuce, no peas, and probably kale instead of the chard since the B week got chard last week. Kohlrabi is coming, but maybe not until the beginning of summer and the same goes for favas.
Today was mostly harvest and packing and not a lot of other work in the field. We did get a little hoeing done, and a little trellising and we’re almost caught up with all of that – maybe Monday we’ll catch up. The thing about the farm is it’s always changing so if we ever do get caught up the next time we come out there’s magically more to be done.
Next week is literally the final week of spring. If you signed up for a summer share expect an email mid week with all of the details. We’re currently full with a short waiting list and occasionally we do have space open up so you can sign up to get on the waiting list if you still want a share. There’s a little more space in the fall and winter seasons still.
