3rd Spring Share

Mustard greens, lettuce, radishes, choi, green garlic and arugula. The first little lettuces of the season, a small romaine and a small red leaf. The garlic is something we haven’t grown on the farm for years since rust became a problem, but at this stage when it’s still young rust isn’t a problem yet. If you haven’t had it before you can use any, and all parts, of the plant for its garlicky flavor. It would go nicely cooked with the mustard greens.

It’s been a busy week in the field. The leeks for fall and winter are all planted now and we made a huge dent yesterday in the weeds that are starting to come up in all of the newly planted crops.

Next week’s share will likely look a little different. I’m guessing we might have different lettuce varieties, this round of choi is gone, but we probably have more mustards and maybe even turnips and the first kale of the season.
