2nd Spring Share

Green onions, kale and collard raab, mizuna and arugula. With more of the over wintered crops done, and the spring planted crops really just getting going it’s a small share today. The you pick herbs are looking great right now, especially the chives and loveage, and we’ve had good harvests of rhubarb on the farm stand.

We started irrigating the fields for the first time this year today. Looks like we might get a little rain this weekend, but probably not much and with all of this sun the plantings that are in the ground could really use the water to size up sooner. It’s likely that next week’s share may look a little different due to some of that extra growth from the sunny days.

Setting up the irrigation took a bit of time as it always does first thing in the spring. Even so, we had time to hoe a few of the spring plantings giving them an even better chance of sizing up well. If this weather keeps up we’ll be starting to plant even the summer crops soon!

While we’re still early in the spring season it already looks like summer is shaping up nicely and we’ve sold almost all of the summer shares. If you haven’t signed up yet (and haven’t paid your deposit) you’ll want to do it soon before it’s fully booked up. Still plenty of fall shares available, but we’ve got a ways to go until fall.
