This is an especially tricky one to predict and I wouldn’t be surprised if the A and B week shares end up being a bit different. After the big opener last week it will also likely be a slightly smaller share this coming week. Green onions, arugula and mizuna are looking like strong possibilities. Radishes, lettuce and choi might be ready for the B week but as of yesterday they still looked a little small. We might have enough raab for another round, but my guess is that it will end up on the farm stand. There’s also a possibility of a little scorzonera either on the farm stand or in the A week shares. Rhubarb will continue to be available on the farm stand, and the culinary herbs are looking good in the you pick section.
Yesterday was a huge day in the field: starting with hoeing, lots of bed prep and planting, and ending with trellising the peas. We’ve already started irrigation in the tunnel and as soon as we can get the lines hooked up in the field it looks like the plants are going to need some water as it hasn’t actually rained appreciably in the past week at this point and there’s been plenty of sun and wind. All this sun, racing to get new plantings cultivated and seedlings and seeds into the ground, got me behind in my posts for the predictions, but I’ll try to get back on schedule next week.
