Our spring A schedule folks picked up tonight and here’s what was in the shares: leeks, collard raab, fava tips, mache, carrots, kale raab and sorrel. Lots of spring time greens together with the last of the winter carrots and leeks. Next week’s share should be similar but everything is growing fast so we’ll see what happens.
The sorrel is a lemony green that I like to cook with white fish, or make into a pureed sauce for potato gnocchi this time of year. It can also be used raw in salads. The raab is especially sweet right now and this might be the last of it depending on the weather. Fava tips are from overwintered favas and we may have more when the spring planted favas come on in a month or two. I usually sauté it in olive oil with some salt and just eat it that way (the way I eat a lot of things).
In the field today we planted more lettuce, seeded spinach, covered some beds for future planting, and hoed the new plantings of potatoes and carrots.
If you’re a B week member expect an email tomorrow with pick up details for next week. Spring has a waiting list at this point but we still have summer, fall and winter shares available.
