Predictions for 1st Spring Share

Spring is always a tricky season with weather going back and forth between sunny and warm enough to get things growing and cold and wet enough to stop them in their tracks and let the slugs come out to snack. Here’s what I think we’ll have for the first share next week: sorrel, leeks, overwintered carrots, fava greens, and collard and kale raab. Basically all overwintered crops while we give the new late winter plantings time to grow a little more.

We’ve had some great dry windows in the past month which have made getting some of the plantings in the ground a little easier. There are still lots of plants in the greenhouse sizing up for later plantings, including the peppers and tomatoes! In the ground right now are lettuces, kale, beets and carrots, peas, arugula, turnips and more! Ideally we’ll have a mix of sunny warm days and a few days of rain for at least the next few weeks. Fingers crossed!

Our spring CSA is currently fully subscribed but if you haven’t ordered a share yet there’s still a possibility a few spots will open up so filling out the sign up form will get you on the waiting list if one does come available. We still have lots of summer, fall and winter shares available.
