Despite my mis-titling the last post, this was in fact winter share #5 of 6. Winter radish, turnip, carrots, leeks, radicchio, parsnips and collards. This was the last of the winter radish, parsnips and radicchio until next fall. The final radicchio this winter was the very special isontina type, which is a bit finicky but worked out nicely enough this year that we had enough for a head in each share. With the warm weather the collards are already starting to make raab so there’s a bit of that in the share along with the leaves.
In the field today we had some volunteer help and managed to do some clean up in the you pick area, cleaning up the perennial herbs and finally taking down the trellises from last season. It looks like we have a few more days of dry weather to get some bed prep done before we’re back into a rainy cycle so we’re going to try to take advantage of that tomorrow.
Spring CSA sign ups are going well with a constant trickle coming in. We still have about 15 shares available that will start the second week of April, just over a month from now! (Technically we’re full for the A schedule so best to sign up for the B schedule)
