Predictions for Winter Share #4

Collards, parsnips, carrots, leeks, and salsify. With a little luck we‘ll have enough radicchio for one more round, and if not it will be on the farm stand.  Also possibly on the  farm stand will be some winter radish and kohlrabi. With this unseasonably warm weather we may have a little brassicas raab, too!

In the short term this weather is making it a little easier to get the earliest spring plantings going. As much as it’s lovely to work in there’s a funny stress that comes with it this time of year, not really feeling ready for it combined with the fear that rain will return for the rest of the spring and we will have missed our only opportunity for reasonable planting conditions. Or, worse, we’ll never see rain again and will experience a drought. In the end we‘ll get as much done as we can while it’s dry and hope the rain does return, intermittently.

This Sunday is the CSA Share Fair put on by PNWCSA Coalition. We‘ll be there so come say hi if you want to hear more about the farm in person. CSA shares for spring are filling up but we still have a good number available.
