Here’s a photo from the farm on the morning of our last harvest, frosty! It looks like that’s going to the be the case this coming Thursday. Temperatures have been dipping below freezing regularly at night and warming up during the day. For a lot of crops this time of year that’s an ideal set up for excellent flavor, but it definitely makes it trickier to get the harvest out of the field so here’s my loose prediction for Thursday’s harvest: Collards, radicchio, carrots, parsnips, salsify and rutabaga.
Headline number two for today is that I just got the new share info up on the website so spring, summer, fall 2025 and winter 2026 shares are all available for sign up now. We’re offering the usual payment options of cash, check, card, PayPal and SNAP with DUFB, and we’re adding an option of work-trade credits this year for folks who want to get more hands on with the farm. I’m still writing up the details on that option with the hours available and types of tasks and will share that with anyone who is interested. The basic math is that an hour of work will be worth $16 credit towards your share. I’m also working on setting a few “weekend work party” dates for the spring, summer, and fall for folks who can’t join us on week days. Stay tuned!
