Predictions for Summer Share #13

The final week of summer looks and the weather is already looking fall like. We need a little more sun and heat to get the peppers and tomatoes ripening again. That said, there probably will be at least a pepper and a few tomatoes next week, as well as more kale and lettuce. A bit of celery and some beets are also likely. Summer squash and cucumbers may make it onto the farm stand, although they’re in rapid decline. Eggplant and basil may or may not be done for the season.

One thing is for certain, it will be the final share of the summer season. The fall season will start the following week so next week’s prediction will be for the first fall share of the season. Huge thank you to everyone who replied to the call for sign-ups. We’re now full for fall and winter CSA members so after this point any sign ups will be put on the waiting list (I’m still confirming all of the sign-ups that came in this week).

Today in the field the final planting for our winter CSA went in the ground, a bit of mâche. We also continued with the never ending weeding, attempting to salvage more carrots for this fall and to keep the radicchio clean.
