Summer Share #10

Lettuce, carrots, potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, chard. The cool weather really slowed down the summer squash so we only had enough of that for the farm stand, and the squash bugs have found it so I’m not sure how much longer we’ll have it. The potatoes are the all red fingerling called Amarosa we’ve been growing for years now and they’re the last of the potatoes for this year. The chard is looking good after the rain, one of the few crops we’re harvesting right now that appreciates cooler, wetter weather.

It looks like the heat is returning and that should help ripen more cucumbers and the sweet peppers which are oh so close to being ready. After that rain it’s likely the heat will bring another good flush of weeds so I spent a lot of the day hoeing the fall plantings, as well as getting some beds ready for more seedlings to go into later this week.

We still have another month of summer CSA shares before fall starts – and we still have fall shares available that we’d love to have folks sign up for. They’re every other week for six harvests and are very affordable – or you can sign up for every week which is still pretty affordable. You can sign up for a share at our website.
