Lettuce, tomatoes, summer squash, carrots, cucumbers, romano beans, kale. A much smaller head of lettuce this week and we’ll see what Thursday gets as this variety is on the verge of bolting, although the cooler temps might help a bit. Tomatoes are on now so more than just one in the share! The carrots weren’t abundant under the weeds but they’re some of the sweetest I’ve ever had in the summer. Romano beans were a last minute addition as we seem to be getting a decent flush just now and we didn’t have time to clean the shallots.
In addition to harvesting there was another round of planting radicchio, the last of the fall lettuce, and some more salad turnips. We’re getting close the end of plantings for the season with a trickle for the next few weeks. A lot of our time for the next month or two will be taken up clearing the big weed problem and starting to harvest and clean some of the storage crops like onions and dry beans.
Fall shares are just five weeks out and we still have 11 shares on the B schedule that are available. Sign up soon if you want one. The fall season will start just after summer ends and go every other week through December. Our winter season that starts after that is already full!
