More field updates

This time with a photo from yesterday! Cover crops are looking good after the rain we’ve had. We got a little more cover crop seeded in the hoop house yesterday, sainfoin. I got a little seed for it last year to try out and it’s a bit of a long shot, both as something that is typically perennial and not suited to acid soils, so we’ll see if it does anything. It is supposed to be drought tolerant and we don’t irrigate cover crops so that could be a plus if it’ll actually grow.

We had good weather yesterday but the soil was about as wet as I ever see it when it’s not raining, presumably from heavy overnight rains. Mostly we prepped beds for planting next week. The next two weeks are shaping up to be our biggest planting weeks of the year, with lots of summer crops going in the ground if the weather cooperates (it looks like it will?)

We’re down to 8 summer CSA shares available, and again, Thursday is really full so sign up for Monday if you can.
