Predictions for fifth fall share

We still have two more shares this fall, 5 and 6. Here’s my best guess for the next harvest, which will be the two weeks after Thanksgiving (the next A schedule pick up will be on November 30, the next B schedule on December 7): leeks, parsley, green mustard, escarole, beets, winter radishes and popcorn. We should also have a little more radicchio on the farm stand and the last of the dry beans, maybe even a bit of grind-your-own polenta if I can get some time to shell it and it’s not too wet out.

We got lucky again with the weather and Thursday was a dry day so we were able to clean up a little more in the field. Specifically we’re cleaning up weeds from one of the PYO beds where we hope to plant some dahlias, with fingers crossed that they’ll make it through the winter without rotting or being completely eaten by slugs. The slugs are prolific this fall, probably partly due to the relative warm weather we’ve been having.

Fall season will end the week before Christmas and then we’ll take another one week break before starting our winter CSA season the first week of January. We still have three more winter shares available so if you want one make sure to sign up soon!
