Predictions for fourth fall share

Collards or kale, mustard greens, radicchio and maybe escarole, carrots, celeriac, and possibly spinach or parsley. Winter radishes and kohlrabi were also in the plan but we’ll have to reassess next week. The warm fall we’ve been having has really increased pest pressure and resulting rot. It’s been nicer to work out in the fields when it’s warm, but somewhat counterintuitively it actually seems like it’s been worse for many of the cool season crops.

We got exceedingly lucky with the weather again today, almost completely dry and even a little sun in the afternoon! Field clean up continues and we got a few more drip lines and some trellising out of the fields this afternoon.

A couple of logistical notes: Next week it’ll be mostly dark for CSA pick up and we’ll have the lights on, but you may want a flashlight – especially if you’re picking up late. In three weeks we’ll take a week break for Thanksgiving! This means that there’s a two week gap between the fourth and fifth shares, not the typical one week gap.
