Yesterday was the last day of work on the farm for both Tiiu and Clio (on the left in the photo above). Catherine and Sara (in the middle of the photo) started working on the farm at the beginning the month and are quickly learning the ropes. Both Clio and Tiiu are headed back to school – Clio to her last year of college, and Tiiu to her first year of teaching 5th grade!
Clio came to work on the farm while on summer break from college. It’s been great working with her and seeing her get comfortable with the daily tasks of growing and harvesting the veggies.
Tiiu started working on the farm all the way back in 2019! For our CSA members she’s really been the face of the farm for most of that, working half the CSA pick-ups that first year and almost every CSA pick-up since 2020!
She hasn’t just been the person at CSA pick-up though, she’s also spent her days on the farm doing field work, helping with construction projects, and coming to the farm on our off days when we needed to run more irrigation sets, or pretty much anything else. She made sure to bring us hot ginger tea every day for our break times, and was always going above and beyond to make sure everything that needed to happen on the farm got done.
I haven’t been great about taking photos of people on the farm but here are a few of Tiiu that I do have from her years on the farm – my favorite is the one of working her first Halloween CSA pick-up in 2019!
We’ll miss both of you, Clio and Tiiu, and look forward to hearing about your school adventures!
